Endeavor Takeover - Saturday Soup Kitchen! Come support the First Presbyterian Church's Saturday Soup Kitchen on March 30th. For over 20 years, First Presbyterian Church has offered a free, hot meal to hungry people on Saturday afternoons. This is a volunteer lead ministry with partners throughout the City of Winter Haven. You'll have the opportunity to cook the meal (under the supervision of a head chef) and to serve the meals to those in need.
Time Shifts( You may stay for both shifts if desired):
Shift 1 (Cooking & Set-up): 2:00 - 3:30pm
Shift 2 (Serving & Clean up): 3:30 - 5:30pm. You may stay for both shifts if desired!
What to Expect: This event has two separate shifts, but volunteers can do both shifts if desired. Shift 1 (Cooking & Set-up) will include: prepping and cooking food, putting food in warming trays, transporting food to serving stations, setting up dining tables, putting out dessert and bread displays, filling up coolers and drink containers with ice, etc. Shift 2 (Serving & Clean Up) will include: serving the food cooked to approximately 80 - 120 men, women, and children in need, offering smiles and words of encouragement to attendees, cleaning up tables, throwing away trash, washing dishes, etc. Please note, we will be outside in a covered, but non-air conditioned building.
Attire: Sneakers, shorts and a t-shirt for both shifts.
